James closing in on records

Senior Rayford James finished less than 2 seconds behind the Lee High school record of 4:21.8 set in 2006 Friday night at the Bolles Bulldog Classic. The current record was set by Jonathan Esteban in 2006 at the FHSAA State Finals. James time of 4:23.56 gave him second overall in the race only behind the 2013 FHSAA 3A Cross-Country state champion Sukhi Khosla of Tallahassee Leon. James was able to out kick Adam Wallenfelsz (Tallahassee Leon) and Avery Bartlett (Tallahassee Chiles), both finishing within 2-tenths of a second of James.

James also made a strong statement by winning the 800m later on in the evening with a blazing 1:56.42. Again James was able to out kick his opponents with 2nd finishing 11-hundreths of a second behind. James' finish in the 800m was just a second shy of the 1:55.1 Dwayne Edwards ran last season at FHSAA Regional Championships for the Lee High School record.

Sophomore Dominic Williams also ran Friday night in a tune up run, competing in the 3200m. Williams finished the 3200m in 10:19.88.
